Biography:
Since graduating from the Toneelschool in Maastricht (the Maastricht Theatre School) and the Kleinkunst Academie (Arts Academy) in Amsterdam, Jeroen has been exceptionally busy, working on numerous and varied productions in a very short period of time.
He started his career in the theatre, where he performed in productions of well-known plays with a number of theatre groups, including Christ Superstars and Hamlet, which won the “Gouden Gids Publieksprijs” (an award voted for by the public) in 1998. He also starred in a major production of Jeff Koons by Theu Boermans. In 2004, he delivered a brilliant performance in the theatre production of Gilamesh produced by ‘de Theatercompanie’.
On television, Jeroen’s career has been varied. Jeroen was a regular and much loved Lama in the successful Dutch version of ‘Whose Line is it Anyway?’ showcasing his comedic talents. Following this he became permanent team captain on Linda de Mol’s variety quiz show ‘Ik hou van Holland’ (I love Holland). Jeroen, together with his good friend Dennis van de Ven, has written and performed in their own comedy sketch show Neonletters (formerly named Draadstaal) for the AVRO. This year he has a starring role playing Jack in Iedereen is Gek op Jack, the Dutch version of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’.
On the big screen, Jeroen performed the lead role in the art house film Links by Froukje Tan. Recently, Jeroen was also cast as the male lead in the Dutch adaptation of the Flemish film Loft, which was released in cinemas in 2010. The movie proved to be one of the biggest blockbusters in the Netherlands of the year. Jeroen won the prestigious Rembrandt Award for best actor for his role in this film.
Following years of preparations, Jeroen and Dennis, made their musical debut as JURK! with the release of their debut album ‘Avondjurk’ (Evening Gown); which was followed by a sold out tour of over 50 theatres nationwide.
In 2010 as well as in 2011, he won the coveted 'Zilveren Televizier Ster' (Dutch version of the Emmy's) for Best Television Personality. His album Avondjurk (Evening Gown), went gold, selling over one hundred thousand copies.
Jeroen is one of the most successful actors, television personalities, singer/songwriters of his generation in the Netherlands. Besides being the most demanded comedian in Dutch showbiz.
